To help ensure that a diverse and highly trained workforce is available to provide competent clinical care to those affected by the rheumatic diseases.
Only training directors at ACGME-accredited institutions in good standing may apply. The trainee must be an underrepresented minority or a woman, i.e., either Black American, Native American (American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian), Mexican American, Puerto Rican or any other minority category. Award applicant must be a citizen or non-citizen national of the United States of America, or be in lawful possession of a permanent resident card. Individuals on temporary (J1, H1) or student visas are not eligible.
