MacDowell Colony Residencies

Purpose
To provide a place where creative artists can take advantage of uninterrupted work time and seclusion in which to work and enjoy the experience of living in a community of gifted artists.
The studios are offered for the independent pursuit of the applicant's art. No workshops or courses are given.|Under subject Fine and Applied Arts, choreography is also included with Dance.
Eligibility
Open to established and emerging artists in the fields specified.

A total of 32 studios are available during each application period for individual residencies

Usually 4 weeks, maximum of 8 weeks
Award Value
Up to US$1,000 for artists in need of financial assistance (stipends), plus limited travel grants for any artist based on need

MacDowell Colony
The MacDowell Colony was founded in 1907 to provide creative artists with uninterrupted time and seclusion to work and enjoy the experience of living in a community with gifted artists. Residencies are up to eight weeks for writers, and playwrights, composers, film and video makers, visual artists, architects and interdisciplinary artists. Artists in residence receive room, board and the exclusive use of a studio. There are no residency fees. A travel grant and limited artist grants are available to artists in residence, based on need.
