To fund proposals of original scholarship with the expectation that the undertaking will lead to a publication or a conference presentation and contribute to the field.

Winners must be, or become, members of the Children's Literature Association. Previous recipients are not eligible to reapply until the third year from the date of the first award.
From US$500-1,500, which may be used to purchase supplies and materials e.g. books and videos, and as research support e.g. photocopying, or to underwrite travel to special collections or libraries
Applicants must submit their application online including email address, academic institution and status, the expected date of their degree, a detailed description of the research proposal, a curriculum vitae and two letters of reference, one of which must be from the applicant's dissertation or thesis advisor.
