The Department of English Studies is offering a limited number of awards to students planning to pursue its one-year taught Master's (Litt) programme in Literature, Culture and Place.
Open to home and overseas students, preference will be given to students intending to undertake PhD research in the Department on successful completion of their master's degree.
The awards cover the cost of full-time fees or part-time fees (currently £3,235 / £1,620 for home students, and £8,695 / £4,350 for overseas students).

There is no formal application procedure for these studentships.|Applicants are selected on merit by departmental selectors in mid-July before the academic year. It is important that all MLitt applicants should complete the MLitt application form as fully as possible. In particular, you should supply details in the blank space allowed for further information in support of your application. This space should be used to explain how your previous study has prepared you for this course, what interests you about the curriculum, and how the course relates to your eventual career aims or research aspirations. Make sure you specify your particular literary interests – e.g. in individual authors, period or topics.
