WOTRO Integrated Programmes
To support excellent demand-driven interdisciplinary research programmes to the benefit of development and societal issues in the South.
Awarded programmes can usually start one year after submitting the preliminary application.
Applications must be submitted by a senior researcher affiliated at a Dutch academic institute together with a senior researcher from a developing country; the research team must include at least one (postdoc or PhD) researcher from a developing country; researchers must have appropriate degrees.
Up to 5 years (combining at least 2 doctorate and/or postdoctorate projects)
Salary costs, living allowances, communication and research costs to a maximum of €700,000
Twice a year preliminary applications are selected. Selected applicants receive a grant for elaborating the application into a full proposal, in joint collaboration with scientific and non-scientific stakeholders.

WOTRO-Science for Global Development
The Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) is the central Dutch organization in the field of fundamental and strategic scientific research. NWO encompasses all fields of scholarship and consequently plays a key role in the development of science, technology and culture in the Netherlands. NWO is an independent organization that acts as the national research council in the Netherlands. NWO is the largest national sponsor of fundamental scientific research undertaken in the 13 Dutch universities and provides many types of funding for research driven by intellectual curiosity.
