OCAC Junior Residency

Purpose

To encourage outstanding emerging artists to pursue a focused project in a stimulating art environment.

Housing on campus, $500 travel reimbursement, $500 materials reimbursement and a $1,200 fellowship stipend are provided to each junior resident. In addition, residents are invited to participate in a group show of resident work in the fall of the following year. Please see the website for further details external link

Eligibility

Open to citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Artists working in drawing/painting or fibres will be considered in the fall and those working in metals and photography for spring residency. The college defines emerging artists as postgraduates (post-MFA preferred) with less than 5 years experience as an exhibiting artist. Candidates from culturally diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Oregon College of Art & Craft  (OCAC) is dedicated to excellence in teaching art through craft, contributing significantly to the continuity of contemporary craft as an artistic expression. The college traces its origins to 1907 when Julia Hoffman founded the Arts and Crafts Society to educate the public on the value of arts and crafts in daily life through art classes and exhibitions featuring the best examples of American crafts. Today OCAC is an accredited independent craft college offering studio classes in book arts, ceramics, drawing/painting, fibres, metals, photography and wood.
