MacDowell Colony
The MacDowell Colony was founded in 1907 to provide creative artists with uninterrupted time and seclusion to work and enjoy the experience of living in a community with gifted artists. Residencies are up to eight weeks for writers, and playwrights, composers, film and video makers, visual artists, architects and interdisciplinary artists. Artists in residence receive room, board and the exclusive use of a studio. There are no residency fees. A travel grant and limited artist grants are available to artists in residence, based on need.
